In an unravelling social fabric, the few shared strands that can still be yanked by mass-media exploiters: sex, greed, fear of old age and fear of its alternative. |
Loyalty
The noblest quality of a dog, a spouse, a friend, a ballplayer or an employee-company relationship. Nowadays the surest mark of a born patsy - including the dog, lately replaced as Britain's preferred pet by the ever-expedient cat. |
