Censorship
Use of excessive force by society's thought-police in both lanes of the political highway. On the right: the squelching of provocative art, language, ideas or manners in an attempt to protect the public, which is generally oblivious to the squelchees until the precise moment they are squelched. On the left: the suppression of politically incorrect writers or campus speakers who threaten to expose the dogma du jour as so much piffle. In either case: the dream of every struggling troublemaker who aspires to instant fame. |
