COWS
Every year, every grass-eating cow produces 120 kg of methane, a greenhouse gas twenty times more damaging than carbon dioxide. This can add up: in Ireland, for example, farting and belching by cows accounts for about 35 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions. |
CREATINE
According to France's Agence de Securite Sanitaire des Aliments, creatine (used by many athletes as a training aid) causes digestive, muscular, and cardiovascular problems, and may pose long-term dangers to health. It could also increase the risk of cancer. And, to add insult to injury, it doesn't help much anyway. |
CRIBS
More than ten thousand children under the age of five were injured in 1999, and more than thirty die each year, as a result of crib injuries, including falls and suffocation. Most cribs inspected in a national sampling of motels and hotels were found to be unsafe. |
CRUSHING AND GRINDING MACHINE OPERATOR, BEING A
Operating crushing and grinding machines is the occupation with the highest risk of dying from tuberculosis. If this makes you really mad at your employer, at least you have the perfect way of getting rid of him. |
